CURRENT CANNABIS INHALATION METHODS ARE NOT STANDARDIZED

Cannabis patients and wellness consumers are looking to treat their specific diagnosis or symptoms.

While Inhalation has the most immediate onset of effects and accounts for 92% of consumer sessions, no current inhalation method provides standardized microdosing void of harmful or potentially harmful constituents.

Flower is the most frequently used product form for inhalation at 60%. However, clinical research with Flower is minimal, dosing efficacy for hundreds of cannabis strains remains undefined, and inconsistent knowledge of dosing effects or delivery mechanisms persists.

WHY MICRODOSE MEDICAL CANNABIS?

A biphasic effect means that low and high doses of a compound can have opposing effects. Many prescription medications have biphasic effects.  Such is the case with cannabis. Why is this important for your cannabis treatment?

Every individual has a biphasic response curve. This means the ideal or optimal dose of cannabis will vary by individual. However, every individual can find their optimal dose at the peak of the biphasic response curve.

STANDARDIZATION: PREDICTABLE & RELIABLE

Most medications have a baseline dose. That could be a 5mg initial unit dose for example. Doctors can prescribe multiples of that baseline dose to patients to increase effectiveness or decrease it to minimize negative effects based on the established research for that medication. Standardization of dosing and delivery mechanisms leads to a better understanding of strain and dosing effects, improving treatment efficacy.

FINDING YOUR OPTIMAL DOSE

Microdosing is the practice of taking a smaller dose of medication than is normally used.

You may be familiar with the phrase “less is more”. Microdosing is the practice of taking a smaller dose of medication than is normally used. Microdosing is a helpful way to approach dosing cannabis because it allows patients to slowly work towards finding their optimal dose before triggering the biphasic effects that have been identified in cannabis i.e., Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and Cannabidiol (CBD).

ANCILLARY TOOL FOR DOSE TITRATION

Dose titration is a way for clinicians to personalize medical cannabis flower microdoses so that patients can obtain the intended benefits of the treatment for their disease while minimizing side effects.

The BRAZIER MDI-P™ dispenses and administers precision dosages in the efficacy of prescription. As a standardized method for microdosing botanical medicaments, the BRAZIER MDI-P™ system and method will guide clinicians and patients on dose titration schedules to achieve the intended benefits of the entourage effect from prescribed treatment, while minimizing unnecessary use and effects.

TERPENOIDS AND MINOR CANNABINOIDS CONTRIBUTE TO ENTOURAGE EFFECT

The “entourage effect” is the suggested positive contribution derived from the addition of terpenes to cannabinoids. Dr. Ethan Russo posited that cannabinoids and terpenoids can work in concert to abate specific symptoms, but “remain understudied” in terms of therapeutic potential.

Terpenes convey the smell of different cannabis flowers, and also have therapeutic abilities by themselves and as co-activating agents, enhancing the activity of phytocannabinoids.

The BRAZIER MDI-P™ System and Method is strain agnostic, allowing physicians to titrate microdoses of botanical cannabis targeting strains with specific terpene and minor cannabinoid profiles to increase treatment efficacy. This will facilitate greater control for patients of their medical cannabis treatment to target their specific diagnosis and symptoms or to get a specific result.

Botanical cannabis in microdoses is the prescribed method when titrating for targeted symptoms relief.
